(Narrated `Abdullah bin `Amr:  Sahih al-Bukhari 5973)

Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said. “It is one of the greatest sins that a man should curse his parents.” It was asked (by the people), “O Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم)! How does a man curse his parents?” The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, “‘The man abuses the father of another man, and the latter abuses the father of the former and abuses his mother.”
The Prophet (PBUH) said in an authentic Hadith narrated by Ibn Majah:
من صام ستة أيام بعد الفطر كان تمام السنة، من جاء بالحسنة فله عشر أمثالها.
Whoever fasts six days after finishing the fast of Ramadan will be like fasting the whole year, as the reward of Hasanah (good deed) is multiplied ten times.

Reopening Masjid Fatima on Monday, 1st of June 2020

Alhamdullilah, the NYC Administration has allowed the reopening of Houses of Worship. Therefore, the Masjid Executive Committee has decided, after the necessary consultations, to reopen the Masjid, for the five daily prayers and Friday prayer. This will be effective Zuhre prayer on Monday, 1st of June 2020 within the following guidelines:

1- Full observation of NYC Guidelines concerning social distance.

2- Temperature of each worshiper will be taken at the entry of the Masjid. Persons with high temperature will be denied entrance. Worshipers with any sickness symptoms must stay at home.

3- Only ten worshipers will be allowed at each time. Each worshiper has to keep Six feet distance with worshipers next and around him.

4- Only adults, 15 years old and above will be allowed. Elderly and women are to pray at home for their own safety.

5- For the safety of all, each worshiper has to wear a mask during his stay in the Masjid. Shake hands, hugging, or socialization are discouraged. Each worshiper should also, for his own safety, bring his personal prayer rug

6- Only Fard (Obligatory) prayers will be performed in the five daily prayers. Sunnah prayer is to be performed at home, which is originally recommended by our Prophet (PBUH). Each worshiper has to leave after the end of the Fard prayers, no stay in the Masjid will be allowed.

7- Friday Prayer will be performed within the limit of ten worshipers. The Khutbah (sermon) is to start at 1:15 PM. and the whole duration of the prayer will be limited to 15 minutes. The Sunnah prayer is to be performed at home and each worshiper is requested to leave right after the Fard prayer. The second prayer will be performed to allow for extra ten worshipers to perform the prayer.

8- All worshipers need to consider the fact that we all are doing our worship to please Allah SWT. The Masjid Administration requests the cooperation of all worshipers. Please keep away of anything that may displease Allah SWT like wrangling, disputing, or arguing. The difficulty of managing the prayers in the Masjid within the limits imposed by NYC Administration necessitates understanding from all of us.

We pray to Allah SWT to bestow his Mercy, Forgiveness, Grace and Help in performing our worship. We also pray to Allah SWT to protect and relieve us, our families and all people from the present pandemic, Ameen!

Verily, those who have attained to faith and do good works, and are constant in prayer, and dispense charity – they shall have their reward with their Sustainer, and no fear needs they have, and neither shall they grieve.

"Those who spend (in charity) of their wealth by night and by day, in secret and in public, have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve" [Quran 2:274]

Al Quran – Surah al-Munafiqun – Verse 10. And expend of that with which We have provided you before death comes to any of you when he says: “My Lord! If only You would give me respite for a little while, then I should give alms and be amongst the righteous.

Donate for ZAKAT/SADAQA/FITRA

The amount of Zakat Al-Fitr is a minimal of $10 for each family member.

Zakat, or almsgiving, is one of the five third pillar of Islam, along with first pillar the Sahadat (I bear witness that there is no GOD but ALLAH SWT,and Prophet Mohammad is the messenger of Allah) ), prayer, fasting and pilgrimage (Hajj). For every sane, adult Muslim who owns wealth over a certain amount – known as the nisab.

Establish worship, pay the poor-due, and bow your heads with those who bow (in worship). Quran 2:43

(Al Quran – 2:274) Those who spend their wealth by night and by day, secretly and publicly, will find that their reward is secure with their Lord and that there is no reason for them to entertain any fear or grief.

According to the Muslim traditions (hadith), a needy relative has more right over your Fitra, followed by your neighbor and then an educated one and then so on. The reason for this is that Islam places special emphasis on family and community relations. We are asked to hold on to maintain family ties at all costs. Neighbors have rights too and they are considered as next to family.
