Eidul-Adha Prayer

Eid prayer is a duty on the Muslim males. The Khutbah for Eid prayer is to be offered after the prayer not before. Attending the Eid prayer Khutbah is also a duty, according to Hanafi Mazhab.
Women and children are allowed to attend Eid prayer as part of the celebration of Eid days.
Takbirat for Eidul-Adha in the Masjid should start after Fajre prayer on the day of Arafah (the ninth of Zulhijjah). They end after Asre prayer on the thirteenth of Zulhijjah (the third day of days of Tashreeq).
The most common formula for the Takbirat of Eid is the following:
الله وأكبر، الله وأكبر، لا إله إلا الله، الله وأكبر، الله وأكبر، ولله الحمد
Those Takbirat are to be performed individually in the Masjid not collectively as it, unfortunately, happens in many Masajid.
In Eidul-Adha, the Taqbirat performed in the Masjid are called the restricted Takbirat, because they are done only in the Masjid. However, there are also unrestricted Takbirat that should be performed by Muslims wherever they go. They start on the first day of the month of Zulhijjah until after Asre prayer on the thirteenth of that month.
The following practices are recommended for Eid prayer.
  1. Making Ghusl after Fajre time before going to Eid prayer.
  2. Dressing in the best way possible.
  3. Going to the prayer from one way and returning from another. The reason mentioned for this recommended practice is that the angles usually wait for Muslims in different roads, during Eid days, to salute them and pray for them. Going from different roads will allow for getting the blessings of more angles.
  4. On the tenth of Zulhijjah, the first day of Eidul-Adaha, the slaughter of Qurbani must be after Eid prayer not before.
  5. After the slaughter of Qurbani, the restriction on cutting hair and nails for the Muslims who offer Qurbani will come to an end.
  6. For Eidul-Adha prayer it is recommended not to eat from fajre time before the Eid prayer until the return from the prayer. Then it is preferable to eat from the meat of the Qurbani if available.
We seize the opportunity of those blessed days to pray to Allah SWT to make them days of happiness and mercy for all of us, our families, and the whole Muslim Ummah.
